#D’CONVO -(February Edition)

Launch of D'Hangout
#D'Hangout - Feburary Edition

They say a journey of a thousand miles starts with a step and this is exactly how the maiden edition of D’Hangout began. After a long battle of doubting the possibility of pursing this vision, we finally mastered the courage to call the shots and make this a reality.

D’Hangout is a mission driven agenda with the vision to create a platform for the youth to break away from the virtual circles of shallow relationship into a deeper one by building a Godly community of friends. Inspired by the sermon “Inner Circle” by Pastor Michael Todd of transformation church we believe nobody can reach their purpose without having a Godly community. Hence the goal for this monthly hangout is to build Christ centered cliques we can call our inner circle.

Knowing the possibility of the upcoming Val day ruining our plans for the first meeting, the date was set exactly a week before the day of love thus 7th Feb,2019. This first occasion felt like a first date as we sat anxiously waiting for the others to join at our coded location. Contrary to our expectation, we had an overwhelming number that graced this first meeting. On this special edition the D’Hangout, we setup a surprise to celebrate one outstanding friend whose recent achievement in academia was about getting all the media buzz in the nation.

Enjoying her first mini-golf experience, Miss Lois Afua Okyerewaa Damptey was surprised by the sudden appearance of family and friends to congratulate her for her recent achievement. Lois emerged as the best out of nearly a hundred entries from twenty-seven countries who submitted research abstracts and did pictorial presentation of their work for the Pan African Conference on Crystallography. She received two awards, one from the International Center for Diffraction Data (ICDD) and the other from the Royal Society of Chemistry. Her research work was centered on finding a suitable material that could convert non-edible Ghanaian and Tanzanian oil-seeds into bio-fuels.

As part of our inner circle. we celebrated Lois not only because she is an M Phil student who beat PhD students and even lecturers to win an award but because we believe its crucial to celebrate our own no matter how small or huge the achievement may be. On that night we took turns to speak into her life amidst having plenty to eat and drink not forgetting the crazy moment captured on camera.

As we have started this very first hangout on such a high note, we are hopeful of better days ahead. Get ready for our march edition where we discuss the topic Faith Verses Reality.
